What has been your favourite job whilst with this illness

Mine is working as a cleaner.
It is such a straightforward job and I’m on my feet doing something. Well today is my first shift so I’ll decide if I’m able to do it.

Good luck at your job. Hope you like it and it does some good for you. My favourite job is the one i’ve got now - clinical nurse. However, i used to work in an art and framing store and i enjoy what i did there. I also used to work as a legal secretary and i enjoy that work too. For most of my jobs, i could find something about it that i liked.

You’ve done quite a few jobs.
And Thankyou
I’m quite looking forward to it in a way and in another way not though cos I know I’m struggling atm.but it will be OK. Wat must be done must be done. I need money and activity.

Clinical nurse is a demanding yet rewarding job I’m impressed that you are able to do that.
Do you find it quite challenging.

Mystery guest for the hotel industry. A secret shopper. It was super part time but I ate good for free and was paid to fill out a report. No co-workers or manager hovering over you. I did it for four years.

Best of luck at your new gig.

Thanks gene. I’m gonna need it. Four years that’s a solid amount of time, good on you.

Probably working behind a trendy bar serving people.

Music, food, as much diet coke as I could drink and listening to entertaining patrons.

Probably couldn’t do it now though, as I’d have to take my sedating meds halfway through a shift.

Do you still work now as well.?

My favourite job is the one I have now which is data analyst. I basically get to listen to music all day and mess around with figures on spreadsheets for clients.

No, been on disability for a while now. Work would cause stress which would lead to a relapse. But I try and keep busy

That sounds quite relaxing your job.

Fair enough. I’ve been off work since November 2017 so I thought I’d give it a shot for part time now. If its too much I’ll just stop. But we all have different types of things that stress us.

Yeah it is pretty relaxing. We wear casual clothes too and I only work four days a week, and I am allowed to smoke whenever I want. I am lucky as I got the job through family who work there.

As a therapist, for myself of course, learning all about CBT and how the symptoms of sz are explained through it. I’ve done no formal work except for the first day I started volunteering and developed schizophrenia half way through it.
