My first shopper gig was jack in the box restaurants. I had replied to a newspaper ad. The hotel job I applied through craigslist. More than likely you’d have to live in a major metropolitan area like LA, NY, Chicago, etc.
I’ve had a lot of jobs, but my favorite since becoming very ill (first psychotic break I mean, 2003) is teaching. I taught labs for four semesters as a grad student (2005-2007), loved it, and I’ve been teaching at one community college for the past eight years, and at a second one as of just a couple weeks ago. It’s great, doesn’t really stress me out.
Working in a bookstore was great work. It was hard and on your feet all day but if you like books it was good retail. This was back in the noughties. I haven’t work really since 2004 besides a short stint in a bookstore over here in Oz. Working with books was a pleasure even when it involved sales!
My favorite job is the job I have right now as a volunteer. I visit residents in a nursing home. When I was working for pay, I always had crappy jobs. None of them were any good.
My current job as a janitor. I work in an army reserve office building and most of the people are cool and the job is pretty laid back. My most prestigious job was working as a park ranger for two years in my forties. My janitor job is better.
Driving a bulk fuel delivery truck. Nothing like a big ass vehicle with an 18 speed. Also? You mostly work alone. It don’t get better than that.
