What foods boost mood

any input much apprexiated

Anything with sugar in it, I’ve been told gives a temporary dopamine boost.
I find chocolate always helps

… But in the long run, it might be healthy foods.

There are no “super foods” there are just some foods that are better for you in any given situation. Example, you wouldn’t give a diabetic a candy cane. But you might give a person with hypoglycemia some candy.

Foods that I have found that help with mood are abundant. Fruit helps, vitamin D helps, fish (only twice a week for safety), beef. And these are the ones that work for me. I would like to eat more avocado however it is only seasonal. (Unless I go to the Mexican store, they might have some. Never thought of that, hmmm…)

They say nuts are good for you but I don’t particularly like them all the time. They are dry and they make me sleepy.

Mediterranean diet is the best. few if any meats and lot of things that sprout from the blessed soil.

Ok yeah I should eat healthier but when I’m in a sad state I drink coffee and eat organic fair trade chili dark chocolate. See? Its organic. Cant be all bad.

I like Mediterranean diet too - vegetarian version. When I eat healthy food it makes me feel happy that I am putting good stuff in my body. When I eat unhealthy processed food like crisps, even though they taste good I feel unhappy.

About boosting mood - I heard barley is good for depression. I like chocolate too when I feel down. I buy dark chocolate nowadays which is healthier than milk chocolate.

I’ve found bananas good for improving energy and stamina. If you have a day where you have to work, have some bananas the night before.

I hope my recent downward spiral doesn’t taint this recommendation. I think I would be way worse off than I am now if I had not upgraded my diet.

  • avoid inflammitory foods such as grains, sugar, dairy
    – the gut = your greatest mood variable
  • eat foods with minerals and vitamins such as dark greens and colored vegetables
    – heathy neural activity
  • and finally foods with heathy fats and oils
    – the classic sz diet, includes fish

Linseed oil is good for mood and depression. I’ve given linseed oil to a couple of my dour friends and they perked up within 10 minutes of taking it. I find the same effect.

I personally love eating frozen mango. Any frozen food helps me, especially if I’m disassociating. It’s probably my favourite coping skill, plus I never eat enough so it’s always good to eat frozen fruit. Or frozen puddings, or frozen apple sauces, or anything else random you could possibly freeze that might taste good.

Foods with vitamins you’re missing in it. For me it’s vitamin D, milk products, vitamin water and comfort food like mashed potatoes.

For me: chocolate! And saffron, but thats addictive.

I don’t eat chocolate often because I’m diabetic but it makes me feel slightly euphoric when I have some.
Puts me in a very good mood, but it doesn’t last long.

Chocolate and bread makes me happy
