I can’t remember exactly how or when it started, but there’s been an ongoing joke on the forum centered around potatoes. It’s all in good fun. Potato just means potato, no hidden meaning. I couldn’t find a potato emoji so here’s the next best thing 
EDIT: If you search the word “potato” on the forum, you’ll get a lot of silly and funny potato threads.

It’s just a forum joke that people refer to when they are being silly or blowing off steam. You’re more than welcome to join in on the fun and silliness. 
Legend has it that one day the great Potato was harvested by a sz.
The sz took the potato to the mountain top.
There, Potato revealed his wishes: that sz’s should unite under a common banner of equality and equal access to stuff normals get (i.e. education).
Potato decreed that all sz were made in his image–round and asymmetrical–and that, united, we can build a new civilization centered around constant vigilance against spies, aliens, and other nefarious sz villains.
Then, potato said, “eat me.” The sz said, "no, I cannot! You are Potato. Potato has brought us the message of progress and peace!"
Potato said, "eat me with ketchup and deep fry me"
