What does everyone on here use to clean your Cpap equipment

What does everyone on here use to clean their Cpap equipent and disinfect it?I read a smaal amount of Dawn dish soap added to warm or hot water and soaking it for at least 30 minutes works plus I use cpap wipes to wipe my mask down may not use the wipes as much now instead will start using my Cpap disinfecting Spray I got today and maybe once or twice a week starting out soak it in hot soapy water with a very small amount of dawn I just cleaned it that way earlier and when it dries all the way maybe by tomorrow or Sunday evening will use The Cpap disinfecting spray may use it more often right now since Im sick or start wearing it agaib when my nose isnt so stuffy

I use the SoClean ozone cleaner machine. It was $200, but worth it to me. I just pop the mask in there each morning, hit start, and then take it out each night and hook it back in. I sometimes also have to wipe off the part that touches my face, using a baby wipe.

My husband uses rubbing alcohol on his face mask and diluted vinegar in the tube portion

@Ninjastar I’ve read up on this some and the articles all seem to say the same thing: namely that ozone cleaners are dangerous.

Warning to Patients about Ozone Cleaners: Dallas Sleep: Snoring & Sleep Apnea Specialists.

Avoiding Ozone & UV CPAP Cleaners: Learn Safe, Easy and Natural Alternatives for Cleaning - AG Industries.

I soak and wash the mask frame, cushion and short tubing daily in a mixture of Dawn and warm water. The rest of the equipment I wash weekly in the same.

I clean mine in ultrasonic cavitation machine with a mild detergent solution and it also gets zapped an UV cabinet I made myself. It is powerful enough that any live insect that gets in there doesn’t live long.

I made the UV cabinet myself. It does not leak light. I use it for sterilizing all kinds of things. I would not use an ozone cleaner as my lungs are crapped up enough without outside help.

I suggest your husband read up on it and make his own decision.

Well, if you don’t have any of these problems or you’re not under any of these conditions I guess you don’t need a humidifier.

A humidifier on a CPAP machine adds moisture to the air that the machine delivers to the user’s upper airway. This can help prevent or relieve side effects of CPAP therapy, such as:

  • Sore throat
  • Dry mouth
  • Runny nose
  • Sinus inflammation
  • Nosebleeds
  • Nasal congestion
  • Sneezing
  • Chapped lips
  • Sinus-type headaches

Humidifiers are especially recommended for people who: Live in a dry climate, Take medications that cause dry airways, Are over 65 years old, Have cold symptoms or a postnasal drip, and Sleep in a cooler bedroom.

CPAP humidifiers can be integrated into the CPAP machine itself or be standalone units. Most humidifiers have adjustable settings for humidity level, tubing temperature, and water.

I have tried and tried to use a humidifier been told it’s good for opening up your sinuses and it helps most people for the most part, but I must be weird it doesn’t help me in fact it makes me more stuffed up than ever without it it’s doable when I am not sick I can wear my CPAP 99.99 percent of the time 30 days in a row right now I am lucky to get maybe three days use out of it also a fan when it’s not winter outside helps me breathe better too especially when its blowing on me or next to my bed but right now I moved my fan across the room so it’s not blowing directly on me may make me sicker.

I would discuss using the humidifier with either the sleep clinic you went to or the company that supplies the cpap machine.

I told my sleep dr I couldnt use .my humidifier at all tried nmany times only to turn it back off and I turned it up to what my sleep dr suggested which is on 8 thats the highest and still couldnt do it made me more stuffed up than ever so I stopped using it awhile backShe my sleep dr said that was fine to not use it she said some can tolerate it and others cant I would use my cpap right now if my sinuses wernt acting up and I could take a breath while wearing it I find it hard to take a deep breath with air blowing in my face right now btw I am a tad better with my breathing not pacing the floor as much trying to catch my breath by yawning Im not heling very fast its very slow recovery but I will get there back to being myself again soonI hope

It’s good to hear you’re getting a little better, even if it’s just slowly. I am far from being an expert on CPAP machines, your doctor knows better than me. If I have doubts or questions about the whole CPAP thing I’ll read up on it or message the sleep clinic or the company that supplies the machine. This company has sleep coaches who can answer most questions.

Luckily I am not having many problems with wearing my CPAP mask and I’m not having many problems sleeping. Just so you don’t get sick again, I would read up on cleaning procedures and frequency and also read up on how often to replace equipment (frame, cushions, tubing, headgear etc.). Read many different articles to get the best idea of what to do.

Those aren’t recommended either.
