Cpap mask/machine

I have to wear a CPAP mask every night. I’m getting rashes and cysts around my nose. How can I wear the mask without breaking out so bad? Does anyone else experience this?

Hiya!
I don’t have experience with cpap machine but I think lotion might help?
Are you doing okay?

Mine leaves me with red marks all over my face. Like I’ve been inseminated by one of these:

I hate the wretched thing.

Oh goodness :scream: that’s terrifying…lol

Can you maybe try a different brand of mask? Perhaps you’re allergic to something in your current one?

I just saw a nose/nostil mask. As long as my skin is free from the mask rubbing it. I also found these liners for the mask. I’ll keep looking into getting some.

Eh, I wouldn’t unless you don’t move around in your sleep. You’d end up having to tape the thing to your face, and then we’re back to square one with the rashes.

You’re right. I found these liners that go over the mask and they’re made of cotton to keep from getting irritated.

I keep seeing an ad for something called SoClean. It’s got William Shatner on the commercial and says it keeps cpap machines clean. Maybe if you had something like that you wouldn’t break out? Just throwing it out there, I have no personal experience with cpap machines.

Thanks @agent101g , I’ll look into it.

I use mine every night. It leaves red marks but they go away after a few minutes. I don’t break out.

Have you tried ordering a different mask? Mine is called a Quattro I think. It’s much better quality than that other cheap one they used to send me. They just ran out of those and had to send me that one and I have been asking for it ever since. The insurance still pays for it but it’s more expensive.

I have a high quality mask with cotton liners. It still leaves me with red lines all over my face that take about an hour to go away.

It sounds like a dirty mask. I highly recommend the SoClean. It uses ozone to automatically clean the mask every day.

I can assure you, my masks are immaculately clean. This has happened ever since I opened it out of the package.

Hmmm. Well if you do want to try a different mask style, I use the nasal pillows one. You have to be able to sleep with your mouth closed, but I toss and turn a lot and it stays on for me. It’s pretty comfortable. I don’t get red marks.

Sweet, I’ll look into that one.
