What do you do to avoid isolating yourself?

This country is getting many cut backs too lately. I hope things don’t get bad. A lot more services used to be available.

It’s a shame. I hope you find some things.

Wow those programs actually seem pretty neat idk if we have anything like that around here but it sounds like it could be fun

But hey I’m sure you’ll do great in college! are you planning on doing more?

I think that saving up is a great idea! I was kinda planning on it but it’s just taking so long. And I would sell things but I kinda don’t have anything to sell? What did you sell??

If there’s a support group or groups available you could try that. The one’s I go to teach you life skills as well.

i had about 15 items including 2 bikes and a sofa, sold my guitar today as well for £50

i have tried support groups as well and they are very good, i am now going to a clubhouse when i can and they are really good too the one i go to got me a paid little job 2hrs every Thursday, i got my first pay check last week for £100 and it doesnt affect my benefits either.

What kind of things do you do at support groups? I’ve never been to one?? They seem kinda scary! :fearful:

Well that’s super cool! I’m glad you were able to make some money

What’s a clubhouse though???

The one time we talked about interpersonal skills and the second time we drew a picture of our head and wrote our thoughts inside them. But we were not expected to share if we didn’t want to. We also talked about Thanksgiving and what our plans were. We had pizza and snacks (well I couldn’t have the pizza-Celiac disease). It was intentionally light because it was just two days before thanksgiving.

Well that sounds a lot better than what I pictured almost sounds kinda nice. But is it ok if you don’t talk much? Cause despite my name I’m actually pretty quiet lol. But I just don’t want to annoy anyone with that. Would it be ok??

where are you? there might be one in your area x

a clubhouse is a place where you go to take part in voluntary activities like cooking/computing there is chores to be done too and its all voluntary, there are events and the staff are all trained to support us, they offer paid job opportunities called teps which i am doing and they help me with getting benefits and anything else that comes up.

Thanks.

I don’t know if I plan doing more down the line in future in college cause I went to university in my early 20’s and I feel I have done enough education wise. I just want to do something I enjoy a bit.

But I would like to eventually get into a work program that would let me get back into a few hours a week working just to start again one day in the future. I really hope I can do that again one day.

For now I’m focusing on getting back into the community and coming off a few medications (not my sz medications) as I had difficulty controlling a medical condition I had when I was first diagnosed with that a few years ago.

So that’s just where I’m at right now

Thanks.

I just force myself to get out and hang with friends and family, but I guess it’s a mental thing.

Well I live in America. I’ve never heard of a club house before though? Does it cost money?? Idk maybe that might be good?

You don’t have to talk a lot. But it is appreciated when you interact. Certain times you are expected to talk but you don’t have to be chatty necessarily.

Hey that’s cool you gotta do what works for you!

And I know you can do a work program and work again eventually just take your time and keep your hope up!!

And good luck with getting back into the community and coming off of some of your meds I hope the transition is smooth for you!

Well I just worry cause when I get too anxious I can sometimes go mute. And it’s been happening a lot I’m sure I could make it work though. Thank you!

Well ok definitely can’t do a clubhouse the closest one is like 3hours away seems like a decent program though. Thank you for the links! And thank you @daydreamer for the suggestion
