What can I wear to let everyone know that I am schizophrenic?

This might not seem like a good idea. But the more I thought about it, the more it seemed like a good idea.

I thought about buying a shirt. But I would only be able to wear it every once and awhile.

I was thinking of making a necklace to wear. Where can I buy a (cheap 1-15 dollar) necklace that says, “I am schizophrenic?” Maybe a fabric one? What should it look like?

I am also open to wearing other things to let everyone know I am schizophrenic. Incase the necklace things doesn’t work.

I am 30 male hispanic btw. I was thinking of wearing this to let everyone know I have schizophrenia so that they don’t think I am so weird. They will just think I am schizophrenic. Thanks.

why would you want to do that? do you know the amount of stigma you are bringing down on yourself if you do? I don’t even want to buy a medical bracelet my partner wants to me get because I don’t want the world to know i’m sza or sz

How about a tin foil hat… okay seriously though I think that there are websites that allow for a way to make custom shirts. Just be aware of the crazy amount of stigma that you may face.

Do you want to do this because your high functioning and you want to help the stigma? I think a green ribbon is mental health support.

I read a news story about this NYC clothes designer and I think someone else posted about this designer on the forum a while ago.

SCHIZOPHRENIC.NYC?

Featured in BuzzFeed, The Daily Mail, and Defying Mental Illness, Schizophrenic.NYC is a Mental Health clothing line created by a Schizophrenic New York City resident who is trying to make social change in NYC. Schizophrenic.NYC benefits the city of New York’s mentally ill homeless by donating a portion of our profits we make to organizations in New York such as Fountain House, NYS Health Foundation, MHA-NYC, and NAMI.

There’s plenty of weird people out there I’m sure we all blend into crowd ,we just don’t think we do because of the paranoia.

Not something I would do, we like to think it’s a warm fuzzy world out there but sadly it’s not.

kind of like how jews used to wear stars

Not the same at all, and kind of offensive to Jews that had to go through that to imply that it is the same.

Probably not a good idea – it will not have the outcome you’re hoping for. I was jokingly going to say wear a tin foil hat, but please don’t.

Your whole post sounds like a bad joke. But yeah, if you want to stand out and make your life harder than by all means buy a shirt that might bring anger, mistrust, fear and even violence directed at you.

I was gonna say “nothing” but then, I’m just saying nothing.

Btw you are so much more than your medical diagnosis.

You could wear ear phones. Many use them to drown out voices or to isolate from stimuli from the surroundings.

Think once and twice about wearing someting that say you have sz. The stigma is nothing to play around with. But if you are high functioning and strong as a person, maybe you can make a change in peoples minds about us.

If I were you I would just wear normal clothes, I think sz is more of like a private medical thing, not something you want to broadcast to the world.

If you do odd behaviors in public I’m sure people will think you’re crazy, they just won’t know why or how.

actually people might not care… they might not take the t-shirt seriously…

People are too concerned with how they look to think about how you look. Once you realize this you have understood narcissism in society. They probably wouldn’t notice if you changed your wardrobe up a little bit.

There is a medical badge necklace one can buy.
It actually does say what illness one has,dr,medication etc
It can be bought on line.
It’s engraved I think but forget any other information on it.

I wear a note in my wallet .
It does not say I’m schizo but says to take me home if im acting wierd and sleep and food may help n time to my self.
