What can i do with my broken brain?

The way i get pass everyday is like eat and sleep. I do think it is difficult to do only eating and sleeping. But i only have very little on my plate. My brain, if not my body, is so retarded. What can i do?

Keep at it. Eat and sleep. Get through each day.

It has been a good strategy for me to try to care for my physical body. Brush and floss and get some exercise, I recommend.

Have you tried to read shorter articles about subjects you find interesting?
If you have anything that you would like more about ( like, nature disasters, engines, cars, ancient species, humans body, just sort of encyclopedic knowledge) you could try to read some specified magazines - and they are usually very nicely illustrated, just one step at time, to keep your mind in working mode : )

Thank you for your reply.

I often feel uncertain about what i have read. I tried to read about the meds and the supplements but often feel confused.

Oh that’s pretty hard stuff
Read something that will take your mind off the illness.
I know that memory games, or chess, solitaire and such also help empowering the brain. But I’m old fashioned so I stick to reading.

For me there are days that I can’t read so I do something else like watch anything that interest you or take a walk inside or outside just to get the heart pumping. And yes I take it day by day. Get some exercise videos if you don’t like going out at times from the library.

When I was out of work, I took up a few hobbies. Baking was a huge way to relax for me. I hate cleaning, but if I could force myself to do a small thing, like one load of dishes or wiping down the bathroom sink, then I felt like I did something productive with my day. Feeling like we can do something useful is really important to us sz. It can be so easy to say we’re useless, because of all the limitations that have been placed on us. So anything you can push yourself to do will bring up your feelings of self worth, and make you feel happier.

I’m going to start supplementing with Vit C and hemp & whey protein. In addition, I do exercise walks when the weather is nice. I, too, can only really just eat & relax. The only exercise my brain gets is writing/typing online and occasionally watching kids stream video games.

I feel like I am ready to depart from this world, but will continue living here just to get through it all and say, “I did it.”

When I was really sick with schizophrenia, my disease could mess up even lovely readings. Therefore, I got into spiritual literature for children, Reading stuff for children from authors I knew and respected kept me from terrible paranoia, Actually, for a couple years in my midtwenties, my absolutely favorite author was George MacDonald.

Taking meds consistently I was able to take college courses and my mind cleared up quite a bit. I realize it maybe different for you but perhaps a night school class or an art class

Wait for encenicline to come out and other pro brain drugs.

If I had waited for a specific med to get better I would have been sitting doing nothing for about 23 years. My advice is to set small, reasonable goals, and then when those have been completed, set more. I didn’t get better all at once, I did it by spending two months on learning to do my laundry again. Then I set going out and shopping for myself as a target. Or personal hygiene. Or a simple volunteer work position.

I am reasonably certain from my own experience that SZ is, if not a biological brain injury, then at least a brain trauma. I have been forcing myself to do a lot of the exercises those with brain injuries do to try and recover function. It has really helped me.

All that and I’m med compliant. Messing with my head meds has never ended well for me and I always make my wife miserable. Not doing that any more. I’m not smarter than my doctors, I know this now.
