What are some good hotlines?

I’m specifically interested in ones that I can call when I get psychotic or paranoid, but please post suicide ones too for those who would benefit from them.

Let us know the countries the number works in too and whether you have experience with it or not. I want to get my cell phone ready for the next battle…

If you are feeling suicidal, please tell someone — a friend or family member, a teacher, a doctor or therapist or call 911 (if you’re in the U.S.) or the Emergency Medical Services phone number in your country.

You can also call a suicide prevention hotline—these are available in the U.S. and in many other countries.

I hope someone finds the suicide numbers helpful.

I am looking for someone who will listen when I’m psychotic or paranoid when I can’t reach my pdoc and I don’t want to go to the emergency room. I found a number for my local community services board that is to be used in a crisis situation. Put it in my cell phone and hope it’s useful.

I can’t post the local number here without giving away where I am, but I can encourage you to see if you have a community services board. I used their inpatient program three years ago and found it very helpful. I can’t really explain what a community services board is - they have several offices in my county and surrounding counties and they offer sliding scale programs for all types of mental health issues. I do have some experience with their crisis services, when i was admitted to the recovery center, and they do help.

Just trying to arm myself as well as I can for this never-ending battle. I have you guys now for peer support so I figured a crisis hotline was the next logical step.

I don’t know if ninjastar posted this one, because I didn’t click the links, but the number to the US’s National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is 1-800-273-8255. You can also call if you are in “emotional distress”.
