Were you ever affected by someone's name?

I couldn’t understand why I wouldn’t be nice to a classmate, and it was totally because of her name. Her name was Laol and it made me think of getting laid. So, as I child I was mean to her because that idea hurt me. I had never known why I didn’t like her. Now I know.

Yea, there was this girl in middle school named Phoebe.

A lot of us (myself included) would mispronounce her name and call her Phoe-bus for some reason.

I never thought about her again until after psychosis, when the voices would literally torment me about all the dumb, mean, and ridiculous shiit I’ve ever done in my life.

I’d like to think that I’ve matured since middle school in some ways, and believe it or not, psychosis made me realize what a shiitbag I was in many respects.

Sorry Phoebe.

Like they say, don’t beat yourself up about it. We are living, healing people who can overcome our transgressions with a little love.

Don’t go wasting your emotions,
Lay all your love on me!

People who spell their variations of my name as Shaun or Shawn irrititate me. It’s SEAN.

Okay? Okay.

I have my dad’s first name and then I go by my middle name…it’s been a pain my whole life to live with the middle name…doctor’s offices I have to remember to answer to my first name…they never get it.

I was the kid whose name was constantly made fun of. It is one of the most common names in the world, but in my local dialect it rhymed with a lot of words.
Kids love names that rhyme with things.

I had a bf once whose name was Roy Leon, his father’s name was Roy Leon, and his father’s other son was named… Roy Leon.

That made me lol

I can’t recall picking on someone for their name. Some kids picked on me for mine because it rhymes with several words. I’m ashamed to say that I was very cold towards one tech at my most recent hospital visit when she decided it was funny that my name rhymed with something. She first did it in my room while we were alone. I made it clear that I didn’t like it. She then did it again in front of the group, and I basically said that the second graders I’d grown up with had been more creative and less repetitive. It wasn’t nice of me, and I should have just ignored her. I guess it’s a sore spot.

Apparently George Foreman gave all his sons the first name of George. If that’s not weird and confusing I don’t know what is.

In my mom’s family, all the girls were named Mary. And they went by their middle names. I always thought it was a French thing for some reason
