Do You Like Your Name?

Let’s face it, none of us have a choice as to our own first names.

I really like my name…Patrick. Always have.

I asked my girls if they liked their own names and they both told me they wouldn’t change them for the world.

That made me happy!

Do you like your own first name? Or was/ is there another you would have been liked to be called?

Cool.

I’m not asking anyone to post their first name. Just wondering if they liked it or not.

For a girl, I always thought Penelope was cool. It gets shortened to ‘Penny’ which is really cute.

This is no lie.

My mother’s Pastor’s name was Pixie Butt. And incredibly she went by the shortened version of her first name…Pix.

So her name on all of the letters to my Mom were signed…

Pix Butt!

(You can’t make this stuff up, folks!)

:joy:

Nope, I’m pretty happy with my name. Wouldn’t change it. Parents did a good job. Poor kids these day get called any manner of silly names. I can only imagine the bullying. That is why parents need to think honestly about picking their child’s name.

A girl in my daughter’s grade was named ‘Precious Precious’.

Talk about a bullying incident in the making. This poor girl will be scarred for life.

Nah i hated my name roger. People would over accentuate it with a D in it - which came across as if i was thick. I got tarred with the same brush as my unfaithful father with the same name.

Changed it by Deed Poll.

I have a very common name for women born in the 80s.

There were always at least two of us in each class I had with the same name.

I was lucky my baby’s daddies came up with a unique, but not too unique name for my son.

I love it and think he does/will too.

I despise my name. Julie. It is a name for someone perky and preppy. I am neither. The only reasons I never changed my name was didn’t have the cash times remembered I could do it and also, everyone knows me as that. I don’t want to go through having to constantly correct my husband.

I hated my first name as a kid because I had a speech impediment, and I couldn’t pronounce such a long name. I changed it on my own, and I highly prefer my new name.

There’s a Julie at my work. I’ve always called her “Jules”.

She told me she really likes that.

I changed my surname back to my fathers name.

The problem was I was paranoid people were coming for me and I tried to hide myself

It’s back to my step dads name now as I think it upset my family that I did that.

It always bothered me that my mother changed it by deed poll when I was 16 and she didn’t even ask me

I actually hate when people call me that. And Julia.

I’d prefer to be known by my middle name, but my family wouldn’t call me Elizabeth when I was a kid

It depends on who is talking to me. So I have several first names. Lucas. Luki. Luke.

I don’t really have any thoughts of whether I like my names or not.

I got teased a lot growing up as the kids at school had fun with my last name. But I survived. It’s not a last name like Butte or Peck or Reamer or anything. :rainbow:

Edwin. I hated it in grade school. Everybody thought it was weird. I’ve grown to like it now. Better than Edward.
