Is it likely to induce mania?
From what I’ve researched the risks are lower than most antidepressants.
My doctor brought this drug to my attention.
It induced rapid cycling and bad insomnia for me. I quit after 3 weeks because I was starting to feel suicidal. It works different than other antidepressants, so there is always a chance it will be better for you than others.
Tried Wellbutrin and it made the voices more present.
Hopefully it won’t have any side effects for you @Wave!
Been on it for about two years. No discernible side-effects other than mildly increased ambition. I have problems with suicidal ideation without this medication. I take it and I’m fine. No mania or other issues. It seems to work well for some and be a disaster for others.
I had a bad experience with it, stopped after 1 month. It kinda made me manic and suicidal, I had racing thoughts speaking endlessly about suicide benefits to my parents, they told me Wellbutrin made me crazy. It gave me suicidal ideation.
I was able to work for 6 months until I took Wellbutrin, I couldn’t focus on work anymore, I read it can have low concentration as a side effect.
I stopped it in Feb and still unable to work. My pdr doesn’t know why this happened, I think he broke my better working brain with it and doesn’t want to say it. He told me it might improve my negatives but I think he’s just using me as a lab rat to try not proven meds to treat negative symptoms.
He told me after that there is no meds for the negative symptoms of sz. I wish he didn’t prescribe me Wellbutrin. I shouldn’t have told him that I quit my friends, at least I was working. Now I have neither
It gave me suicidal fantasies with delusions.
I was telling my parents that I want to suicide so I go faster to Heaven and enjoy it earlier.
It increases slightly positive symptoms bcz it increases Dopamine. I was on the lowest dose 150mg and had all these side effects.
I would avoid anything which raise adrenaline norepinephrine as these increase anxiety, nervousness which can even lead to paranoia, delusion etc. Another issue is it can effect heart rythms.
Wellbutrin and I don’t mix. I was riddled with anxiety and was ocd on it. Had to stop it shortly after starting it.
I have mania too. Wellbutrin is a huge help. I used to take 300 mg in the mornings with coffee, now I take 100 mg RX with coffee and without it, I can’t leave my bed. It’s working great. I tried stopping twice, couldn’t.
Yeah I don’t think I’ll take it.
It’s an antidepressant and it has the potential of making me manic and increasing my anxiety.
My doctor prescribed me Lamictal for my low moods, I’ll see how I do on this first.
Thanks for your responses guys.
Really helpful.
I have never had mania but I tolerate Wellbutrin well and it works well. I can’t take SSRIs. They make me psychotic so I am thankful for Wellbutrin.
Lamictal only useful for mania and hypomania. Its basically an anti seizure medication which is used to slow high electrical activity in brain which is found during seizure, mania etc.
If you have mixed episodes of mania, hypomania or depression then its good but if the condition is mostly depression then its not an appropriate one.
I tried it. For like 8 months up to 350mg Sr
It didn’t help me much. I had some sensory overload anxiety from it.
One day was walking downtown it was very loud from cars going by. I basically had an anxiety attack from the noise, it lasted for like 4 hours
Initially strange euphoria but I don’t think any mania
I tried it at 100, 150, 300 , 350.
My doctor prescribed it to me for bipolar depression.
Last time I was on it I became a bit hypomanic.
May be it reduced mania to hypomania. Anyway its a good drug for mixed states.
It made me very agitated and emotional. It was so awful
The Wellbutrin @FatMama?
Or Lamictal?
Wellbutrin.
Lamictal has been good for me.
