Well, I had the extra money so I put it to good use

With temperatures hitting 106 degrees in my area of California I think I made a good investment. I just bought the Arctos Portable air conditioner. I had researched “best portable air conditioners” on a whim and this came out at the top. I won’t get it in the mail for a couple weeks but I read lots of reviews and articles and it seems not to be a scam. It can lower the temperature in a medium size room by 18 degrees Fahrenheit. Has anyone else bought this air conditioner or even heard of it? Oh yeah, it cost $89 on sale. Plus shipping & handling and tax it came out to $107. It’s supposed to work great.

They’re poorly made and don’t make much of a difference in the room’s temperture. Sorry man, they’re a scammish company that pays for a lot of sponsored reviews in prominent publications. Older friend of the family got sucked into buying one. See if you can get your $$$ refunded.

I don’t know if it works or not, but I sure hope it does. I think an air conditioner is a great investment

OK. Well they’ve got a great scam going if it’s a scam. I did a pretty thorough search of any keywords that have anything to do with “Arctos” and “scam” or “legit” and found a hundred articles saying how great there air conditioner is and found only one negative review by someone on Reddit. If they are a scam, they are sure covering their tracks well.

That’s how paid reviews work. They pay many people and websites to make those glowing reviews until all negative reviews are buried

It’s just a swamp cooler. You fill it up with ice water and it blows the air over it. You can achieve the same thing with a cooler and box fan.

Hmmm, that’s a little more convincing.

If you can cancel the order, its probably a good idea. That’s a LOT of money for what it is.

My husband bought a cheaper version that you freeze an insert. Cooled right in front of it for about 10 minutes in 80+ weather
I can’t see how one that uses cold water would work any better

Hope you can get your money back.

You get what you pay for I guess. I honestly never trust item descriptions tho. Buy low sell high is the rule of business.

If you can return it. Go buy a 5000 btu window ac for 150 bucks.

Even items on amazon with over 1000 5 star reviews can be fake. I know because we used to get free items in exchange for 5 star review lolol

The advertising world is a house of cards

Edit. I remember getting one of those cooler boxes for free off amazon. Might of been under different brand name im not sure but it was in exchange for a 5 star review

Not trying to make you feel bad here @77nick77. You’re one of the people on here I genuinely care about so, I don’t want to see you get rooked by online marketing creeps. I have been myself and it bites (don’t buy ANYTHING from gearbest.com – thieves).

Well, you’re younger than me but I think I have to give you props for being wiser than me all the same. You probably also look better than I do in tight jeans (damn you).

This is 95% a compliment, btw.

I tried this big commercial size swamp cooler my friends dad had. I put it in my room went to sleep and woke up just drenched like i was in the amazon forest

The air conditioner is so much better cuz it dehumidifies the area too.
