My eating food is out of control. I believe I am gaining weight. The social worker tells me it has to do with my being on Risperidone. Does anyone else here have this problem?

Yes, I gained weight on risperidone but really it’s not as bad as my other meds like Depakote

The only way I can keep my weight in check on APs is by walking and exercising every single day!

Makes me pig out big time. But I take a little abilify to stop it.
Without abilify the resperidone makes me eat eat eat and eat.

I’m on Abilify and if I don’t count my calories I gain weight.

Most meds causes some weight gain because that it causes metabolic changes. For some people it will plateau after some months or years. My advice to you is to eat steamed veggie. Stemed berrys on your oatmeals. Fish and chickens contains lots of proteins and little fat. Whole fruits are good too.
