Weed withdrawal SZ

Hi everyone,

So i’m starting my weed withdrawal tomorrow, and am really scared of triggering symptoms during my detox. Has anyone else experienced weed withdrawal with SZ and do you know of any resources that can help?

Already going to Narcotics Anon, seeing my doc today, counsellor tomorrow and pdoc monday so hoping the pros and my support network can help.

I didn’t get any mental weed withdrawals, I smoked it solidly everyday for over three years, I did get a physical withdrawal which was night sweats, kinda gross but a heads up for you!

Thats comforting to know, thanks. I’ve heard about the night sweats they sound rough!

i always thought i was self-medicating tbh and not dealing with my SZ through weed. 10yr everyday smoker

I’ve smoked multiple times a day since I was twelve and I’m currently almost thirty-three,

Maybe I’ve got a couple years of not smoking in there all together.

Just recently I had to give it up for a couple weeks to go visit my mom,

It wasn’t a big deal, I wanted to get high, had some insomnia and headaches, but that was it.

All the times I’ve had to stop its been like that.

Weed isn’t an AP or heroin, you’ll be fine,

Just take some benedryl at night and don’t keep any pot in the house.

I just gave up from a regular daily smoker. It’s horrible for schizophrenia and it’s just not on my radar anymore.

You won’t get withdrawals but it is habit forming. Replace bad behavior with good. You feel like a smoke…do a short walk or some push ups. It’s handy especially on sz meds!

No, no SZ withdrawals. Just weed withdrawals. The typical groggy, unclear headed, lack of hunger, lack of sleep expect this for a couple days. Make sure to force yourself to eat like fruit or something and drink milk because you can literally go 2 days without eating AT ALL depending on how much you smoke. I noticed a sharp DECREASE in symptoms when I quit weed. Because the weed was the reason for my symptoms this time around…

I quit smoking it about 23 years ago. It was easy to quit. It just got to be boring and made me tired. I had no withdrawal symptoms, maybe insomnia. Eventually, you’ won’t even think about it.

It was really hard for me to quit. I had mood swings, and would cry over seemingly insignificant things. I also kept sweating and freezing, and it was hard for me to keep food down.

Those symptoms lasted for about two weeks, and the not being able to sleep thing lasted a bit longer, and I had some anxiety the first week, but I’m glad I pushed through it and managed to quit.

As long as you’re aware that these things might happen and that that’s why they’re happening, you’ll be okay.
The important thing to remember is that it WILL pass, and that if you smoke even once during that period, it re-starts. It might be hard, but you’ll get through it

Good luck, and feel free to message me if you have any questions.

The worst part for me was feeling stressed and bored out of my mind all the time. Just don’t expect to have much fun or enjoy life for a couple of weeks. You’ll be fine. It’s difficult to resist the temptation to smoke, but the withdrawals themselves aren’t that bad.
