Water water , everywhere

Do you have quality, drinkable tap water?

I think we do. I think we are quite spoiled. People in some countries would be thrilled to have access to the constantly available decent water supply we have.

Yet, we get bottled water to drink. Like I said, spoiled.

Our tap water is good.

That’s considering that bottled water is typically lower quality than tap water.

We live in the city and they put a lot of chemicals in it. I can’t drink it. So we have a water filter. Yes, 1st world problems for sure.

our water is from a lake and it is turning right now so we are drinking bottled water for a month or so…usually it’s ok, but when it’s bad, it’s bad.

You don’t get water from a water treatment plant?

yes, but they get the water from a lake.

That meant the water went through several treatment process that are mandated by the EPA and state regulations. So the water should be safe. Unless you live in a very small community that doesn’t have to follow certain guidelines within the EPA rules.

it’s potable water if you like the taste of dirt and dead fish.

But you just said it’s a water treatment plant. Did you not?

it’s treated, yes…but it doesn’t take away the smell or taste of the lake turning.

I drink tap water and put grape flavoring in it

Yeah, taste typically depends on a water treatment facility. It’s typically not a sign weather the water’s bad or not. Depending on the budget of your local government, typically water treatment plants prioritize weather the water is safe over the smell, at least that’s what says in the books.

My refrigerator water filter broke so although I don’t drink the water straight out of the tap, I do use tap water to make my coffee

Don’t worry, tap water is typically safer than bottled water.

I have a reverse osmosis water filter. Make pure sweet water. The prefilters get filled with rust and scale.

So you filter ocean water?

It filters the tap water and removes everything. Chemicals, fluoride… even the minerals, so I put in mineral drops.

The reason why I asked that question because it was a joke, when a water treatment plant utilizes reverse osmosis typically means they’re pulling water from the ocean which has the highest level of turbility. Many people assume chemicals in the water are harmful to the body, but most the chemicals the water has when it gets to you are very few and meant to preserve the water and reduce tooth decay. Of course there’s nothing wrong with what you’re doing as long as you’re not keeping out that water that you freshly filtered again out too long.

We’re part of the problem, we get our water from the grocery store.

My little bro uses a filter on our sinkwater and it seems to come out great. I’ve been thinking of switching to that. I live in a densely populated area in northern Virginia.
