a lot of drama today with the Olympics! those swimmers lied to police, it may turn into an international incident - lol and the women 4x100 dropped the baton because of a collision, interesting stuff. I’ve never been a track and field fan, seems to go on forever, doesn’t it, these track and field competitions
I’ll be watching basketball…USA vs Spain tomorrow. Big game!
Do the USA send their best players? (I thought they sometimes don’t do this at tournaments like olympics or world cups in sports like basketball and baseball…) If so then it will be easy peasy right?
yes, I believe the USA does send their best players, except in cases where there’s a high-paying professional version of the sport, like golf or basketball.
Lebron and steph curry the two best players aren’t there…but the rest of the squad is pretty solid. I really think we might lose to Spain…they’re really good and USA barely beat France and Serbia
I don’t think the swimmers lied to Police about the stick up. They and the Cab driver are just fearful of any repercussions in case these robbers were part of the Mob. Makes sense.
Why aren’t they there?
Maybe the zika virus played a factor. I know for golf it did since they’re outdoors and around mosquitos a lot. Honestly I’m not 100% sure though.
Ah I see. I recall that some years ago my country the Netherlands won a baseball world-cup but the good countries like Cuba and USA didn’t send their good players… for some sports not every tournament is prestigious enough or there are some rules I don’t know of… Like the olympics football/soccer (only sport i know about ) tournament is for under 23 if I recall correctly and many professional clubs won’t allow their players to compete, making it a bit of a secondary tournament.
Do you know Didi gregorious?? Maybe my favorite player in baseball
He’s from Amsterdam
I was imagining this too, I could believe that some thug security guards may have scared the swimmers, pulled their guns, asked to see the wallets and pull out their ids to make sure they were indeed famous swimmers. if they were speaking portugese, how would they know? they were drunk too, out all night, what a recipe for disaster like this. too much partying and drinking can cause trouble
No I know nothing about baseball sorry I only know Robert Eenhoorn from my country, a retired player who may or may not be a coach somewhere now. On a second thought, I think he used to be the coach of our national team but picked up some job in soccer now, like sports director or something like that.
edit, to give you an idea: baseball is not on tv in the Netherlands, you may play it only a few times (or softball) in entire highschool, no school competitions or something like that, nowhere near as popular and widely available as first soccer, and second field hockey here, then come tennis I believe.
