Waking up to another day

Here in Thailand. Not much to look forward except try to stay a little busy. And when I mean a little busy I mean not doing absolutely nothing!

I don’t have motivation to do one of the many things I could be doing.

Some pretty heavy depression has set in as a result of 12 years battling this illness.

I love Thailand. Haven’t been in several years though. Thought about retiring there but I am not 50 yet.

I heard Bangkok was the most visited city by tourists

A lot of people retire here. Yeah it’s a great place. I’m in Chiang Mai. It probably beats being stuck in the US but still anything is difficult with this illness. How long have you had SZ TomCat?

I have been schizophrenic for just over 10 years. Haven’t been to Thailand since 2007 so about 11 years. I have been all over. Kinda partial to Phuket but I have been to Bangkok and Pattaya the most.

How much do your meds cost you?

The VA would reimburse me but I assume I would have to front the money. I take Latuda. It’s pretty expensive.

It’s easy to get meds here, no questions asked. I usually pick up a big batch when I go back to the US but I’ve bought meds from a local psychiatrist a couple times. I take Haldol and it’s not expensive.

TomCat,
Come for another visit… Thailand is even more fun to come to on holiday than to live here. It’s pretty ordinary for me now and I can speak some Thai.

I may come for a visit.

You have to be 50 to get a retirement visa and me and the wife are 48 now. I have talked to her about it.

We could live like kings in Thailand with what I get in retirement and disability.

OH yes you could. Thailand is very cheap compared to western countries. Wow, you developed SZ so late in life that is rare.

Yeah, it’s a constant battle to stay strong. Try and be strong though.

Depression hits a lot of us afflicted with sz and sza.

I was initially diagnosed paranoid sz, and I think I was misdiagnosed as schizoaffective. Regardless of diagnosis I’ve been fighting symptoms for about 10 years.

Do you have any hobbies you enjoy?

Well,

I study languages. THai and Tibetan. I guess I enjoy that. I’m enjoying working out at the gym. It gives major relief from negative emotions. I enjoy traveling but sometimes it makes me feel bad and I get moody. I feel best when I’m near a beautiful ocean, walking on the beach, enjoying the sunset, and swimming in the ocean.

What about you?

Those are awesome hobbies. I read an occasional book, play guitar, collect weird old records, surf the net, exercise (mainly walking), and I’m in the process of waiting for an online class I enrolled in to start.

What country are you living in? I don’t have work right now except for very part time as an online teacher so I have tons of free time.

I live in America  . I also have a lot of free time. I guess I’m good at occupying my time with decent and positive things. I’m really excited for school to start!
