I moved back to America

Hello all,

Some of you know that I used to live in Thailand. Well, after 7 years I moved back to the good ol’ USA. It’s interesting because I am actually appreciating life here because I know that in many countries it is a lot harder. I’ve lived in India, Nepal, and Taiwan as well. The thing is, 9 years ago after I got on Haldol and got stable I left the US. Up to that point I was living on disability and getting my rent subsidized. Now I’m back in the US and I have to fend for myself. Now I’m just staying with my parents but I’m concerned about how I’m going to make a living. I’m pretty high functioning but I’ve never been able to make a decent income. I was able to do it in Asia because the teaching gigs were pretty easy and things are a lot cheaper over there. Anyway hope you are all finding reasons to be positive and keep up hope.

That’s big news. Maybe you can still do teaching?

Thanks, I’m looking into doing some online teaching but I need a designated office space that is quiet for that which I don’t have right now. As for teaching in US schools I’m not licensed and that is a bit of a terrifying thought. I might be able to get some part time work as a substitute though.

I definitely want to be doing something productive. Helping people with mental illness would be rewarding. I am somewhat of a success story as I’ve been managing my life pretty well and subsisting on less than 1mg of Haldol for many years now.

Is there a specific reason why you moved back to the States? Good luck with the acclimatization!

Welcome back to the United States!!

The covid situation was getting bad in Thailand and they weren’t rolling out vaccination quickly at all. There was also talk of vaccinating Thais before foreigners which I felt was very unfair. (It didn’t turn out that way). I was in Thailand 7 years and it was a lovely time overall but my folks are getting old and I want to spend more time with them.

Mods. Can you move this to the Dx’d Other forum? I think it’ll get more views and is more appropriate.

Thanks.

Done. Next time you will probably get luckier if you tag moderators. I just happened to see your request.
