Vitamin d day

i take my vitamin d supplement once a week. on sundays. I had blood work and it revealed im low in vitamin d. I told my nurse I planned on spending more time outside in the sun this spring and coming months and she said time in the sun isn’t always enough for some people. so she prescribed a once weekly vit d supplement. she also said 80% of white people are deficient in vit d. so it’s probably no big deal.

in the future I will probably just take a supplement in the winter and just spend plenty of time outside when it’s sunny, fall spring and summer.

I’m deficient as well.
But I also hibernate in the winters.

I go outside as little as possible in the winter. will sometimes sit in the sun when it’s mid 40’s for about a half hour. to relieve cabin fever if nothing else.

I had blood work done and had a bad deficiency. Supposed to take 5000 iu a day but I cant afford it.

yeah the supplements weren’t covered by medicare or Medicaid. I think I paid $39 dollars for a 12 week supply out of pocket. not sure the iu,

I have to take Vitamin D as well. In the past i had to take prescription strength but now i just take the one from Target. It’s 1000 IU. I don’t spend much time outside. For one thing, i had a melanoma removed about ten years ago so i have the risk of skin cancer going on. I also just don’t like going outside much.

I also got vitamin D but its for a different reason. I take them so that my bones won’t fall apart on me. See I use to get gout and foot pain and now I need vitamin D. I don’t know how but I got vitamin deficiency out of nowhere, when I checked my chart my calcium level was ok you see.
