Apart from a few ‘proper’ visual hallucinations (typically involving oversized animals and bizarre alien type life forms), and the usual array of black bodies moving about and other visual disturbances, there are other minor experiences for which I have no clear explanation. It might be normal stuff even normals go through, so you tell me. First experience: often, when I close my eyes, especially at night, I see a granulated mosaic type surface bubbling with faces popping up at random. Always in black and white. SOmetimes the heads will rotate on their neck, at others they are demons. Second experience: since falling ill I make up patterns and faces where they are really none. Last night I was on the train when I noticed that I could make up fairly vivid dancing figures and faces where normally I wouldn’t have noticed anything. What are your thoughts on this? The second experience might be pareidolia, which is when you see patterns in things where there really isn’t one.

You’re not alone, I also experience black and white mosaic with closed eyes. It is normal for dark/light patterns to show when your rod cells are first activated. I also see patterns that pop up, but not usually faces. When I smoke marijuana, however, the mosaic is made of greens and oranges and different colors.
Are you on meds? I have no closed eye hallucinations anymore, none at all. I used to see vivid imagery. I think though that even people without psychosis have it. The AP’s helped my tinnitus too and I know that’s not a psychotic symptom.
I have visual hallucinations, but they are usually accompanied by voices. So I have hard time coping with these two hallucinations being combined all the time.
