Using Smart Meter (utilities) help (UK)

I’m with Scottish Power.

I couldn’t keep up dd payments so they switched me to a smart meter.

Do I top up in the app?

How does it work?

Do I manually reconnect the gas and electricity?

My Mom said she would get a boiler engineer to assist.

I hate this. It’s more stress.

Call Scottish Power, they’ll tell you the code for the smart meter and then you just top up via the website usually

I have a smart meter and no bills are estimated as they take the reading and adjust every few months based on credit or debit

I was meant to go home today for home leave but the gas and elec is switched off (after 9 months)

Ffs, stresses me out. I was listed as vulnerable too.

I have to reclaim PIP from tomorrow too or I am well and royally f*cked.

Seeing gas/elec engineer tomorrow. Wish me luck :folded_hands:

When you call Scottish Power, they’ll tell you how to switch it back on. It’s usually not too long a process - the gas engineer won’t take too long I reckon

Edit: When I first moved into my current place, I was also super stressed about the entire gas/electric thing but the power companies are usually quite quick with it. The only long thing, is the actual phone calls becuase they’re always so busy

I know it’s easier said than done, but never lose hope. Sorry for how bad it can get :frowning:
