Update on my lab results today

I went to see my Family Doctor today and he is going to have me set up an appointment with a Hematologist to get an Iron Infusion my family Doctor said I am either not absorbing Iron in my body or my Iron is just Low and may have to take Iron pills from now on and continue getting infusions every so often when my Iron Saturation drops. And that I need to cut down on my carbs because my Insulin is very high so he didn’t change any of my meds for now they will remain the same except for adding Iron to my pill regiment I have some left over Iron pills from the last time I was on Iron I will start taking one tomorrow morning and continue to do so until my Doctor has me stop but I may have to take it from now on I will have to wait and see what the hematologist has to say and my next labs what they say when I have them down in three to five months from now.

For the record, high sugar levels do affect your iron levels as you will constantly be dehydrated with high sugars. So uncontrolled diabetes will alter your blood levels. You need to get your sugar levels in check and hopefully it will improve your iron as well. This was taught me by my endocrinologist so I’m not making it up.

Didnt you recently post that you had a much longer and heavier than usual menstrual cycle? Could this impact your iron levels?

Yes I did post that my period was longer and heavier and My family dr seems to think that low Iron can be due to the heavy bleeding I was having going to obgyn place tomorrow to address that about my periods being irregular.my mom finally convinced me that I need to get checked out down there to make sure all is well and good and nothing else shows up God I hope not finding now that Im older Im taking more pills and having problems I never had before show up getting old sucks. But facts of life noone is perfect everyone has their share of problems

I’ve heard low iron can be a cause of schizophrenia. I was always low on iron, but can’t take it now.
