I dont actually get universal credit but i wanted to ask how people are surviving out there with very little to live on, i’ve been watching a documentary called ‘Skint Britain’ and it is heart wrenching,
I dont think i’d survive on UC if i was put on it, also my rent just went up an extra £25 a month so i worry about that if i had to pay
Don’t they get the same as esa. I was talking to someone about this and she said she gets the same as when she went on esa. Maybe it varies in different regions of uk
No you dont get trhe same as ESA. There are a alot of complaints about people losing there Severe Disability premium of about £60 a week when you go on UC. Im praying they leave my claim alone.
The Severe Disability Premium is paid to people getting certain means-tested benefits (including ESA) who live alone and who have substantial care needs. It is not available under Universal Credit.
From 16 January 2019, you will not be asked to start claiming Universal Credit if you’re getting the Severe Disability Premium as part of your ESA payment. You will not be moved onto Universal Credit until you qualify for transitional protection, which tops up your income to make sure you’re not worse off.
Yeah dont quote me on it - but according to the link - if your not in receipt of the disability premium - than yes they will eventually move you on to it. Could take months tho before you come to their attention. I think its based on where you live in the uk at the moment as well.
