His answer to everything is to get mad. He never accepts that he’s wrong or maybe causing the problem. Everything is turned around on me. I don’t even know what he’s doing up there. When something goes wrong I hear loud ominous thumps. I really don’t know what he is doing to make those noises. Is he punching the wall or stomping on the floor? IDK.
I have had this problem, it drives you crazy to wonder what they could possibly be doing. I’m on the top floor now and I hear a neighbor on one side banging around in the kitchen for hours late at night. Maybe they are baking. It sounds like your neighbor is mentally ill.
Oh, everybody in the building is mentally ill. But he would be fuc*ed up in the head even if he wasn’t mentally ill.
I think I may have shared this story before. When I was at university many years ago, I lived in a ground floor apartment. The guy in the apartment above mine was generally pretty noisy, stomping around, blasting music, etc. Then late one night a really loud ominous thumping sound started. I went upstairs and there was the upstairs neighbor with a bag of aluminum cans and he was using a large sledge hammer to crush the cans one at a time on the floor. I asked him what the hell he was doing and he said “recycling” like it was the most normal thing in the world.

There’s not really a point to this story, except maybe to say that there are plenty of rude and noisy people, and their natural habitat is often in the apartment upstairs. ![]()
