Hi all, I’m on a new sleeping med, but it doesn’t seem to help me sleep. It does lower my heart rate in where I normally have sinus tachycardia. I’m a bit scared an intimidated by this med. IT lowers my heart rate very well , but doesn’t give the sleep effect very well. My PNurse stated I have to use it thru 2 weeks, but my heart rate every night drops way low.
You might ask how low… I would say but you like myself might get alarmed. I didn’t take it tonight.Nor have I taken it past few days, but was wondering what are all your thought about this drug?
I’m also on :
Metropolol = beta blocker for high heart rate daily med
Lisinopril = high blood pressure daily med
Lexapro = anxiety daily med
Depot Injection Aristatada 882mg = every 28 day for Sz.
singular = allergies
vyvanse = adhd daily med
adviar = copd 2x daily
combivent respermat= 4x daily asthma
Duo neb (abutorol and combivent respimat mixture)= as needed up to 4x a day.
Wow the Vyvanse is a stimulant like Adderall that would scare me. Prazosin is also a blood pressure med I take 10mg at night for nightmares isn’t really working.
I assume you do not take all of those at the same time.
You are alarmed by how low your heart rate is, have you informed your doctor? If you have and your meds haven’t been changed, I would also assume that the heart rate isn’t dangerous.
Okay, I don’t know about heart rate, but I do know it CAN lower your blood pressure. If you are already on blood pressure med, it can be going too low. That’s a big IF. I experienced this while on both meds. Mornings were hard especially when getting up. So if you are having low blood pressure symptoms talk to your doctor. Prazosin really isn’t a sleep aid per se as far as I know. It is used for ptsd symptoms to help take care of nightmares and agitation at night. It takes a few weeks to work. But I don’t think it’s supposed to make you sleepy.
It is a blood pressure med and it can take about a week to get used to, but if it’s too concerning I would contact my dr. It does the same thing to me at first but it also really helps my nightmares. Doesn’t help me sleep so much
For me it cause disorentation, but nightmare are still in full flow at weeks worth of day by day taking it.
IT puts me to sleep because of the extremely low heart beat rate i get from it … it usually averages in 40 to 60 beats per minute while on pazosin 1mg up the nights i was taking it. I have completely stopped taking last week.
40 to 60 beats per minute at night is ok for sleeping.
“During sleep, it is normal for a person’s heart rate to slow down below the range for a typical resting heart rate. Between 40 to 50 beats per minute (bpm) is considered an average sleeping heart rate for adults, though this can vary depending on multiple factors.Jul 7, 2023”
