Trying to get help

A copy of an email I sent to arkansas.gov.

I got this email address from a Google search for help getting into a nursing home in Arkansas.

I’m 61 years old and receive Social Security Disability because of my schizophrenia. The gross amount of my check is $1865.80 a month. I have Medicare, but my income is too high for Medicaid. My case manager has tried.

I now have Arthritis of the left hip, Degenerative joint disease of the lower leg, and Low back pain radiating to left leg. The week of June 15th, my hip has gotten worse, and with the pain, I can barely walk. As of May 8th, I no longer have a car. I have to use public transportation or walk.

I’m just barely surviving right now. I live in in . It’s Section 8 housing. I’ve haven’t done housework or laundry in several weeks, and it’s been a week or so since I showered, but the last time I managed to get in the bathtub.

I don’t know what I’m going to do if my hip gets any worse. Should I be looking for help now, or wait until I can no longer function? I live alone and don’t have any family other than a sister, brother-in-law, and their two kids who live in Maryland.

Thanks

Try California or something. Some states are backwards and even force or try to make people work for welfare. I disagree with that personally.

Good to seek help. Systems vary with most places but I’ve always found with the government is to keep on them and keep applying.

Idk. I always get concerned about going into a nursing home. They will take everything that you have if you have anything. The food is bad. Maybe you could get a home health aide to help you out instead.
