Trying out lithium

So tomorrow I will start taking 1mg lithium orotate. I will probably dose it every second day to begin with and see how that goes.

Previously I tried 5mg lithium daily, but this was way too much for me. Might be a conflict with Zyprexa, not sure.

But 1mg is just about what is recommended as daily intake. I live in Europe where lithium from soil and water is mostly low.

From research I have found that lithium is one of the most potent sources to regrow neurons in the brain which is the reason I’m trying this, and it can also work as a natural AD which is a bonus.

Lithium may be good for the brain but it’s bad for our kidneys and thyroid.

It also dehydrates our bodies

I was on Lithium Carbonate for years and it messed up my thyroid (hypothyroidism) and gave me diabetes

It also destroyed my teeth.

Be very careful with this drug.

Many doctors dont prescribe Lithium anymore.

There are safer options out there now, like Lamictal

Sorry to hear about your experience.

Yes, I also experienced that it’s powerful stuff. At 1mg I’m dosing what you would expect to get from dietary sources. Lithium orotate is a lot less toxic than lithium carbonate though, but for some reason the orthodox medical community is reluctant to use it. Maybe because there is little research on it. And certainly no money to be made on it.

They have some interesting papers epidemiology about how higher rates of lithium in the water lower suicide rates. Since it is basically the best known mood stabliser it must have AD effects on some level. I have used both 5mg and 1mg before and not noticed much of a difference but I’ve been weary of using lithium in the past as there is a fine line between feeling good levels of activation and too little motivation. Also the effects on the kidneys taking lithium for long periods of time. Likely supplemental dosages would be okay but I haven’t personally spoken to a doctor about it.

I also remember the people on the longecity talking about how it caused neurogenesis but that was such a long time ago.

Really interested to know how you go

I agree with @Wave , lithium gave me hypothroidism too and trembling hands.

On the other hand i know by experience that it can be very effective for classic bipolar patients.

I guess it’s harmless if you take it in a small dose from a health shop.
