I went to my psychiatrist appointment last week. I walked into his office and said, “How are ya doin doc?”
He answered, “Well, obviously better than you.”
If that’s real he’s an ■■■■■■■
I think Nick meant it to be a joke.
Besides, some sz patients on meds are faring better than many normies with undiagnosed issues (and pdocs aren’t automatically exempt).
I think I related this story before.
I introduced my daughter to my Psychiatrist one day. So it went like this…
Me: "This is my daughter. She’s taking Psychology courses at University to try to figure out her Father.
Psychiatrist: “Oh. She’s going for her PHD is she?”
My doctor could only get away with such a joke…with me. He knows I love a good laugh and wouldn’t hold it against him.
If you can joke with your doc then that means you trust him/her and that’s a good thing. I could never, ever trust my pdocs and it made it impossible to get the help I needed (I admit that was my fault)
My cardiologist usually greets me with, “you’re not dead yet?”
It’s a running joke with us because we both know I’m living in sudden death overtime.
If you can’t change something, you can at least have a sense of humour about it.
I do appreciate that he is forthright with me and gives me the straight goods.
That seems kinda rude.
I don’t see the joke. He was probably serious. People usually only take psychology if they’re going to get a PhD.
