The way I experience it is I’ll hear someone in the adjacent room shout, “What are we going to do about Tom Palmer?” They use a very angry voice when they do this. This is something I’ve experienced about four or five times. A lot of the people at this place are the type of people you’d be sorry you ever knew them after you had been around them very long. One guy stole a bunch of food from the downstairs kitchen after we had been drinking together. There was a good chance I would have been blamed for it. I think they’re trying to drive me out of the program and get me sent to another assisted living center. I swear to God I have done nothing to these people, especially the women. That’s why they’re so angry at me, because I am not responding to their charms, as unappealing as they are. I never say anything bad about them where they can hear me. This morning I groused a little bit when the guy who was pouring the milk and coffee gave one guy a cup of coffee, but wouldn’t let me have one. Now he’s acting like I’ve done something unforgiveable to him, and he’s recruiting all these big guys to put pressure on me. I get all these nonverbal cues. I can’t help but wonder how this crazy situation is going to turn out.
Just ignore them as best you can.
idk if you have staff there or not since i havent lived in an assisted living home before. but i did live in a group home for the disabled for a year and half, ending about 8 months ago. and there was one guy there who was getting shunned because he snitched on another resident and he ended up leaving the group home not long after that and died about a month later from him letting his health get so bad. so make sure you look out for your health and take action to stop anything from getting out of hand.
You’re right. The best thing is to ignore it. The best response is no response.
If you don’t mind me asking, how old are you @crimby?
I’m sixty years old.
The reason why I asked is because you mentioned assisted living center.
It’s an assisted living center for the mentally ill. We have a wide variety of ages here.
