I’ll have my own vehicle again soon. Until then, it’s someone’s car, bus, or walk.

I take the bus.

I mostly drive my dads van these days. Sold my own vehicle during psychosis after driving it out of state and leaving it there :stuck_out_tongue: . Haven’t got around to getting my own again.

I don’t have a driver’s license anymore, so I’m dependent on someone else driving me. I surrendered it when I was psychotic.

My old case manager used to occasionally give me lifts, but my new one doesn’t, and I have to fend for myself.

Is your name on the car’s insurance?

I share a car with my father, my name and his name are on the car’s insurance. But I haven’t been driving much since stopping Abilify.

No. But I should be covered when I drive it I think.

“For others not listed on your policy – like friends or extended family members – the issue becomes murkier. Whether the policy provides coverage in these situations typically depends on consent. If other people drive your car with your permission (meaning you’ve verbally told them they could drive your vehicle, or you handed them the keys), then typically they should be covered under the terms of your policy.”

Got my license and my first car at 17. At 19, I got sick and didn’t drive again until I was 23. I took the bus all over. When I got a car at 23 I drove until 1990 when I was 29. Then I moved into a board & care home and the owner didn’t allow anyone to own a car or drive. I took the bus everywhere for the next 5 years including 5 or 6 AA, CA or NA meetings a week and an hour and a half to my job. I was living with my sister in 1997 and I got a car and I’ve been driving steadily ever since.
