Totally off meds šŸ˜

My doctor has ordered me to abruptly stop all medications that Iā€™m on. Iā€™ve never had this happen before and Iā€™m worried I will relapse without the mood stabilizers.

Iā€™ve quit my medications quite a few times before, but never because the doctor has ordered me to quit them. My platelet levels are extremely low and they believe that one of the medications might be the cause.

Have any of you had a similar experience?

Wow, thatā€™s wild that your dr would stop all of your meds like that. I mean, I get that they want to know the cause of a low platelet count, but damn. I hope you hold up okay.

Itā€™s not going to be pleasant. Withdrawals and the return of your symptoms. They should have put you in hospital to do that.

Yeah. I was thinking it was strange that I wasnā€™t slowly weaned off like normal.

I agree with @everhopeful, you should be in a hospital for such a thing. Honestly, if I were you, and I later ended up in a hospital because my symptoms returned, I would ask for a different dr upon discharge.

Itā€™s actually a team of doctors. I think thereā€™s a chance that I might have some rare type of bone marrow cancer so theyā€™re trying to determine if the meds are the cause as quickly as possible. I guess I shouldnā€™t worry about it but itā€™s hard not to.

Okay, I suppose thatā€™s a little different. I donā€™t blame you for being worried. I have to ask, though, is it a team of psychiatrists, a team of regular doctors, or a mix of both?

Fx itā€™s not cancer and they can get it all figured out and back on meds before things get bad.

Hematologist, endocrinologist and my primary care doctor currently. I was in the process of changing psychiatrists because I did not like the last one that I saw. I requested some emergency antipsychotics in case I felt like I was going to have an episode and she refused to give me anything. I see the new psychiatrist at the end of this month.

I hope that you are OK @Bipolar_Bear, you really ought to be in a Hospital.
This doesnā€™t make sense.

Your new psychiatrist might hit the roof when you tell him or her about this, but I suppose cross that bridge when you get to it. Either way Iā€™m sure he or she will discuss these matters with the other doctors.

Iā€™m sorry. That is incredibly stressful. I hope they can get everything figured out soon, and itā€™s nothing serious. Take it very easy these next few weeks, and be gentle on yourself. And donā€™t hesitate to go to the hospital with if you start to feel a relapse coming on.

I appreciate the support everyone.

Can a mod please close this thread. I thought talking about this would help but itā€™s just making me more anxious about the entire situation.
