I feel good about today. I walked three miles, did laundry, took a shower, had a good lunch (curry chicken), and spent some time with a friend. Not much, but all things considered today was pretty productive! Tomorrow I go in search of a clasp for this heart charm I picked up, and also for some decorative trim for a coat I’m making. Other than that, maybe spend some time with my boyfriend, which is something that I haven’t been able to do much since he started working third shift. So hopefully tomorrow will be as good as today!
Good for you. I love days like that. They don’t happen very often.
Walked 3 miles… that is very cool. It’s nice to get out and walk and just get away from the walls for a while.
How is the fall color or weather where you are?
Very glad that today was better then yesterday… may tomorrow be better then today.
It cheers me to know that you had a good day. It makes me think maybe my day can be a good one too.
The maples are about all that’s left, they’re bright yellow! Everything else is pretty much bare. The weather is excellent, 40s and 50s.
Today looks like it might be a good one too, though it started with a scare! There was a knock on our front door, and my first thought was that cops had shown up to arrest us for some reason. It turned out to just be the guys from the tree service here to trim back an oak that had grown over the house, but I was definitely scared for a minute!
I also get a scare from unexpected people at the door.
I have to admit, I love fall colors. With all the evergreens in our area, not a lot of fall color from the trees. Still very pretty, but we don’t get the amazing color. Plus… with fall… we get a lot of light morning fogs and mist…
How is the sewing project coming?
I ordered the fabric, it’s not here yet though… I have to wait for the tree guys to finish before I can go out to find trim, because they’re blocking my car in. I’m probably going to Joann’s, even though they’re a little pricier than most places, just for conveniences’ sake.
When that happens to me… I get very panicked. Having the cars blocked in makes me really antsy and then I start to pace.
In an emergency, I can go around the house, but my car isn’t supposed to go offroad so I want to avoid that if possible. Though I do want to get going, I hope they finish soon!
It’s annoying now, but it’s nice that they are getting the trees trimmed back now instead of waiting for a storm to drop something heavy through your roof.
Is this a neighbors tree or a city tree?
I live in the country, it’s our tree. We called the tree guys, I just didn’t know they were coming today. They just fired up the wood chipper again, I thought they were done but I guess not. I really hope they finish soon.
Hopefully they will leave you some wood for fires and some chips for mulch.
Or if the Oak is healthy… the chips for wood smoking… There are ways to make small oven sized smokers for small batch jerky.
Nah, it’s all going on the truck, which sucks because I have a friend who turns wood on a lathe, and he’d love some nice oak, but they want the wood chips. Oh well.
Sorry about that. I have a feeling they process and sell the chips.
Sorry you couldn’t score a few nice cross sections for your friend… Oak makes great salad bowls and wood plates.
Hopefully they will be on their way soon and you can get the car out.
Actually, they left some maple for me! My friend is really happy about it, looks like I’m stopping by his place after Joann’s
Score… I hope you get him to make something for you since you gave him the wood…
a wood chalice or water tankard for RenFair perhaps?
maybe! I get wood stuff from him at cost, so I can have cheap wood things! I don’t think I’ll want too much from this batch, though, I mostly just want to help his business. He also has a forge, so he can make pretty metal things too!
I love watching metal workers… They blow me away. I’m a bit of a chicken when it comes to molten hot metal. I’m a bit of a chicken when it comes to molten hot caramel base too…
You’re travels have put you in contact with some very cool people.
Yes they have! I tried blacksmithing once, I made a fork, but I never quite got the hang of it. As for caramel, that stuff can be dangerous!
I bet there is an very precise sense of timing that goes into to blacksmithing.
It seems … you have to know sort of what you want to do with the metal before you begin and know how to still work with what nature throws at you as things heat and cool… and it looks like you have to move quick.
I’ve been looking into glass blowing… it’s all the thing up here… it looks like sort of the same idea… Pause and then hustle.
