Today marks a year since I've had a cigarette

My advice to you who want to quit is quit gradually. It is less trauma to mind and body than quitting cold turkey. And you won’t feel cravings after you quit. I started out cutting it down to 5 cigarettes a day, then, months later, 3 a day, then 2 a day and then 1 a day for months and so when I finally quit, it was no big deal. Go for it!

Wow, well done chordy! I tried cutting down before and couldn’t do it that way.

Yeah, some people call it teasing. Find your own way is probably better advice.

Good for you Chordy!

good for you! my mom quit smoking a month ago. I hope she has your determination and quits for good and not give in to temptation.

Way to go, @PinCushion! Happy for you! :grimacing:

i read this while smoking a cigarette :see_no_evil: i want to quit. that’s good advice, and i’m going to try it.

Congrats on your year mark! This is something I am currently struggling with. I have already had over half a pack today :frowning:

I quit about 5 years ago using much the same method as you. It’s good to not stink and have constant coughing fits.

Congratulations!

I only just noticed I hit the one year mark too!

And I was thinking about smoking one the other day too. I’m glad I didn’t. I used to love to roll my own captain black royal filterless.

I quit smoking in July of 2003. It was not as hard as I expected. I had made several tries previously. The timing just worked. I did not like smoking anymore. I was surprised at how easily it went.

and @jukebox, I haven’t given up on you, hoping for the day you’ll be telling us you’ve cut down to a few a day, here’s a big “HUG” for you in advance, okay?

I would like to add that I started smoking when I was 13 and my quit date was around my 44th birthday. I did use the nicotine replacement gum until I picked my day. So on July 13th of 2003 I woke up and did not have a smoke for the first time in 31 years. And. I do not miss it.
