Tobacco cost in your country

In the UK every March or April around the time the new budget is announced, cigarettes go up in price without fail. Going up every few years sounds heavenly compared lol :sob:

So, I can’t say with certainty how much tobacco products cost now (cause I never smoked), but, I can say that my Dad would constantly tell us that the amount he spent on cigarettes could’ve given him a nice-sized big screen tv at the end of the year. That’s how much Dad was spending on cigarettes. I wouldn’t say he was a chain smoker, but, he got close. He finally stopped smoking, and now he has way more money in his pocket and he said that lol.

When I first started getting them there. They were about $16.50 per carton. I’d imagine they are mpre than 36 dollars a carton now. At the local conveniences store it was like 17 dollars a pack last I remember. I dunno how expensive the carton was.

@Jacob1 for sure it’s quite an expensive habit. I went from being a smoker to being a foodie. I now know where arguably the best philly cheese steaks in town are.

I’m sure trying to kick that habit is hard, cause cigs were made to be addictive to begin with.

I personally don’t mind if a person smokes, but I wish more people would smoke pure tobacco and not cigs that has all of those nasty ingredients in it like rat poison. Cause our ancestors smoked pure tobacco, and they lived a long time. So I’m not against tobacco itself, but I am against putting extra stuff in tobacco and that stuff gets inside not only the person’s lungs but other people’s lungs as well.

But…to each their own. I know smoking helped my Dad to calm down, cause he already has a bad temper to begin with. But so far Dad has not smoked at all.

When I started smoking a pack of B&H cost £2.60. Now a pack costs £14.30.

4$ here ,

Our country’s solution to lowering the amount of smokers is by charging them twice or thrice as much for the product via taxes. That’ll show em.

Then you just end up with impoverished smokers >_<

It was about 10 dollars a pack when I smoked in 2021. I smoked a pack a day. No idea what they’re up to now as I don’t smoke anymore.

It ranges. $6.50 or $12 for Marlboros. I smoke Marlboro red black 100s lately. $9.00 I think it was today.

In Sri Lanka they are around 22 US for 200 Benson and hedges, at the airport duty free.

It’s prohibitive out here as we get taxed to shite over everything. Most people vape now but half of it is illegal and half of it is kosher so no idea how it goes…It really is dumb politic but as someone who smoked a pack a day for 25 years it’s better to be off the shite…

Like the gains you think you get mentally are easily gained in other avenues which aren’t as harmful like exercise etc. They are way better than poisoning yourself with the tar from cigs and even vapes are the same thing…Like the addiction is extreme and I got off nicotine with chemical help and the old champix…Honestly. Public health costs are there but taxing the poor is much easier these days! My two cents.
