Recently, I got fed up with the standard treatment for sza which I describe thusly: I go to the psych office once every three to complain about my cognitive symptoms. After fifteen minutes I get prescribed a drug combination that’s barely changed in fifteen years. It doesn’t help with cognition. I got so agitated I’ve decided to search the literature directly. I have started to learn more but am having trouble finding people to discuss it with. Anyone in similar trouble?
I take supplements. Doctors won’t prescribe me ADHD or dementia meds. I still have declined from where I was 10 years ago. But I feel somewhat better.
My doctors ignore cognitive and negative symptoms. They are more concerned about depression. I guess the supplements are working or they ignore what they can’t fix.
I used to have good hygiene and could cook and do anything I wanted to. Now, I struggle a lot.
By supplements would you be referring to sarcosine? I tried it once or twice, and it seemed to have an effect on those symptoms, but not in a good way. I also tried Wellbutrin (off label adhd drug) and it seemed to directly affect my attention by making it worse. I was wondering about the cognition enhancing therapies.
Yes, I take sarcosine and a few others. I also didn’t like wellbutrin. I prefer cymbalta but I don’t think it has pro-cognitive effects.
