I have been having some unexplained chest/rib area pains recently, and although it’s likely nothing serious, probably just inflammation or something, it has reminded me of the fragility of life and our bodies.
I think it’s important to step back once in awhile, and realize that life does not last forever and we should make the most of it. We all have to do things we don’t really want to do, but I think we should all try to take time to try to do things we want to do while we are still around.
I don’t mean this thread to be about focusing on death and fearing or dreading it, like some might interpret this thread, but to appreciate life while you’ve got it and take the time to do things that bring you joy or are important to you.
Are you on any diabetes meds? I had stomach and chest pain, it turned out it was my metformin causing it. Maybe check side effects like stomach irritation etc on all your meds.
On my metformin bottle it says can irritate the stomach and I had pain in the upper abdomen and chest. I told my Dr and he stopped it. No more pain since then.
Mine is coming from closer to chest area. As it has evolved, the source seems to feel like slightly below left pec muscle. Almost feels like it is emanating from ribs. Maybe inflammation there or inflammation of lungs? Pleurisy? IDK. All I know for sure is that my heart has been checked out thoroughly, and its not that.
Did your Dr check and listen to your lungs? My Dr listened to my lungs while I was breathing by placing a stethoscope on my back. He said my lungs are fine. My heart is also fine according to the last ECG I have done for Clozapine.
“Pleurisy is inflammation of the sheet-like layers that cover the lungs (the pleura). The most common symptom of pleurisy is a sharp chest pain when breathing deeply. Sometimes the pain is also felt in the shoulder.”
Is your pain constant or only happens during deep breathing? What about your shoulders?
“To make the diagnosis of pleurisy, a doctor examines the chest in the area of pain and can often hear (with a stethoscope) the friction that is generated by the rubbing of the two inflamed layers of pleura with each breath . The noise generated by this sound is termed a pleural friction rub”
It usually is most noticeable when cough. But I can also feel it upon moving the wrong way. I can also feel it if I take a heavy breath, but I think this is because of the movement and expansion of my chest when doing so.
Yes, I will be bringing the issue up again when next see doc. It was initially confused with heart issues. It was less intense before and I couldnt pinpoint exactly where it was coming from. With the higher intensity of pain, it will be easier to describe exact location it seems to be coming from next time.
