I sort of thought that because of horrendous side effects I had on the typical antipsychotic Clopixol, and some other experiences, that I only needed a lower dose of an antipsychotic than the average person with schizophrenia.
However, this was incorrect. I need just as high a dose as anyone else with schizophrenia really. There is nothing special about me and I am not out of the ordinary in that regard. I need to be on a pretty high dose.
I have always been on higher doses, but the side effects get me in the end that has led to non-compliance as I tolerate them for a bit, but then get sick of taking them on come off completely.
I refused Clozapine, so now we’re trying amisulpride and Arirpiprazole combo to see if that works.
I was on 30mg of Aripiprazole, but it was giving me really bad anxiety, so that’s been dropped to 20mg. I think it has definitely lowered my anxiety since this change. I was just surprised the Diazepam didn’t cover that up - I guess drug-induced anxiety must be much more severe.
My pdoc says that everyone needs different dosages dependent on how they are processed in the body.
He also said in some countries they run tests on you to find out which drug and dose works for your body. He reckons we’re five years off that in the UK
I was that name for three years. Unfortunately I posted about the amisulpride and my mum looked it up online after I was put on it and saw my thread about it.
I had to get the mods to change my name as I didn’t want her to read my posts, as I speak pretty freely on here and I don’t want to worry her as I do keep stuff to myself except on here to people who understand from similar experiences.
Was probably pretty stupid using my real name, but I couldn’t think of anything when I joined and didn’t think I’d be that active.
