Thought Broadcast and How to Ignore It?

Hi all, I wanted to say thanks for the supportive replies from my previous post.

It really feels like there’s a studio audience criticizing, laughing at, observing, everything I’m doing and feeling at all times. I’ve realized the voices know everything that goes on, even if I don’t form a narrative in my mind, if I feel an emotion they already know about it. The only time I can deal with this is being creative or listening to music.

I obviously can’t do this at work though. I work as a cashier and I think other employees see me having issues but thankfully people tolerate it.

I want to ask my dr. if I can learn some CBT strategies.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

Something I’ve thought of with limited success is the concept of watching a quiet drama movie in one theatre while there’s an action movie going on in another theatre, and you’re trying to just enjoy your movie.

Anyway, thanks in advance

That’s difficult, the only thing that helps me is raising my antipsychotic dose

That’s the most powerful tool for this. Meds will help you maintain insight, but properly done CBT lets you punch the snot out of your positives until they recede into the corner. Best treatment bang for your buck, hands down.

Well, I think you should definitely check out CBT from a good therapist. Part of what I was taught was that when we entertain the delusions, or even intrusive thoughts, it gets a grip on us, and we start believing it more and more. So, the trick is really: not entertaining the thought or even hallucinations.

I hope you get better!

Cbt is best meds help but are uncommon to significantly do much for it, like they do for hallucinations. I have made it go away with self talk but it shortly returns.

I recommend looking up grounding techniques. But in the worse of it it can be near impossible to shut up the feeling and belief of no inner privacy

Go outside when there’s not many people, that way no one can read your mind
