This is dark comedy

A guy who was in Little League at the same time I was and later I went to high school with, killed his father. I don’t know the backstory but he shot his father in the head with a .22 when his father was sleeping on the couch. He got arrested and put in Juvenile Hall.

So the guy happened to be in my Physical Education class when this happened and one day the coach was calling role but he hadn’t heard about the murder. So he’s calling roll and he calls this guys name but of course he gets no answer. I was very shy in high school and I didn’t like to talk or get any attention but some other student said, “He’s gone”. The coach asked when he’ll be back for basketball, I piped up and said, “5-10 years”.

It’s quite possible that the murder was committed because of lax gun laws.
When the gun is there there is always the temptation to use it.
And when it’s easy to get it and there are lots of guns around there is always the temptation to acquire a gun.
