I’mn getting desperate to lose weight and being overweight is going to kill me before a keto diet does. I’ve been reading up on it and I think I could do it. In around 2009 I went on the low carb Atkins diet and lost 65 lbs. while eating less than 20 carbs a day for about a year. The keto diet allows 50 grams of carbs, more than double what I survived on before, I think I want to try it.
Why not dude I think it works for a lot of people. I personally think if you’re more active it’s good to have carbs like doing construction or something but if you have a more chill job that doesn’t require bursts of energy a low and slow keto diet could be good! Best of luck with it if you decide to go ahead with it.
Hey. Don’t mean to discourage you. But I hope you read up a bit about keto and diabetes specifically.
I remember some vague things about needing more or less meds. And the risk of ketoacidosis. I’m totally clueless. I’m not diabetic and just read over it. The only thing that stuck was if it goes wrong you are dead. I can’t remember if this was a 0.00001% chance or a 100% chance. So I hope you check with the diabetes doc.
I think I read that’s a risk for people with type 1 diabetes. This diet is actually good for people with type 2 diabetes for a few reasons.
I did a keto diet for 5 months. Lost 15 kg but gained it all back when I quit the diet.
Ah good. I had no idea, just that there was something with diabetes. I believe you. Hope the diet works for you. I tried, and it had some good effects. I just need more discipline (as always).
Can’t wait for rogue to butt in. Best of luck with your attempt at keto. My advice would be to try and not obsess too much over too many different things, if you want to focus on the diet aspect, focus on that which means count your proteins and calories, and perhaps fibers if you end up having troubles going to the toilet which is quite common on keto.
If you want to focus on counting carbs try to not put as much focus on seeing that scale go down, it will go down most likely but don’t stress over it. Then once that has become a lifestyle, start focus on the other aspect as well.
Don’t start exercising cold Turkey, ramp your way up progressively, it’s much better for you long term and it’s not necessarily smart to overburden your system if the goal is long term weight loss. Make small commitments but make them unbargainable and work your way up from there, progressively.
Good luck!
Its all in the calories, if you still eat high calories like fat you will still gain weight regardless if keto or not
I get keto food sometimes to keep my carbs down. A lot of it tastes like ■■■■. The “Rebel” ice cream is pretty good though.
I found the keto food to be very high in fat and calories like those keto chocolate
The keto chocolate was sweetned with artificial sweetners so sugar free. Was your keto ice cream like that?
No, its just low sugar and carb.
I’d remember that some diets aren’t good for everyone, I started spiraling while I tried keto, I caught it fast enough I didn’t end up in the hospital thank goodness
