I signed up for ancestry once, but I found it really hard to use.
Yeah. It takes some work. 23AndMe was more like: 1. Take the test. 2. Acknowledge we’ve informed you about some stuff. 3. Here are a bunch of people and the percentage of DNA that you share with them. 4. Here is where we would guess they might be on your family tree.
Yeah seems like ancestry would be the better choice. DNA is pretty boring. Only shows your ancestors country of origin, nothing about them personally. Which I also pretty much know what it will say. Like I said, boring lol.
I might try it again idk
I have 23 and me. It sucks that they got hacked.
My mom has ancestry . com and we aren’t related to anyone famous at all lol.
My mom used to use the same website that @anon76260202’s mom does. I am just not interested in ancestry. I did do a DNA on one of my dogs, but it was a free promotion, and I wouldn’t have done it if it wasn’t.
I’ve used 23andMe twice now
Honestly I don’t see anything wrong or amiss with their services
I think they did a decent enough job and their app was easy to navigate
Do you have many large = 90 cMs+ matches at Ancestry DNA? I have just 8. The lack of a chromosome browser there, and being able to tell which matches may be false, doesn’t help.
I currently have 8 people with majority African ancestry who are on my paternal side, share at least 20 cMs with me, and are related to each other. False matches? I wish I knew…
I guess my statements weren’t very clear on that point:
I use historical documents on ancestry.com
For me, that has been more effective than DNA for informing me who my ancestors were about 4 generations back.
23AndMe is the company I did a DNA test with.
That allowed for the possibility you used DNA matching as well.
I’m currently having problems accessing 23andMe.
