What goes on in the mind of the schizophrenic that makes his life so disabilitating ?
… Distractions…
Have you looked at the DSM criteria? All of that.
A lot of interference. My personal belief is; because they CAN’T do things, they try to stop YOU from doing things.
disconnection, dissasociation…over-active imagination…I may have both autism and schizophrenia. I would say schizophrenia is more like the frustration of not being able to communicate the right way to norms/social. Its interesting how the only meds that ever were helpful also work on autism for irritation/etc.
because technically my thoughts are taboo not necessarily delusional.
Emotions are hard to control and deal with
Foggy brain and no motivation, depression, paranoia, inner voices
I can’t speak for others with schizophrenia, but for me, it is a split mind that is so distressing. Isn’t it fascinating that schizophrenia does actually mean a split mind.
That was… something thats for sure lol
The main thing is that thoughts are harder to ignore, they become louder under stress amplifying this. Not really much different than anyone else besides this.
@Zoe. Split mind is a misnomer. When they named schizophrenia it meant “split mind” but what they meant is “a mind split from reality.” Not split personality or multiple personalities or a Jekyll & Hyde type thing.
OCD is like the Jekyll and Hyde more than SZ in my opinion.
OK. But I do feel I have different ways of being. One is fear driven and one is not fear driven. So for me personally it does have a personal meaning but it’s good to hear what it officially is all about.
In what way do you mean that for OCD being like Jekyll and Hyde?
I made a bad joke about OCD a few years ago. A lot of people got on my case for it but I didn’t mean to put anyone down or offend anyone. I simply said it was great in the board & care to have a roommate with OCD because he kept everything so neat.
It’s like having some separate evil part of your brain trolling itself. Intrusive thoughts specifically.
I’m OCD and as messy as it gets. Depends on the kind of OCD you have.
Oh like unwanted thoughts trolling the mind?
Yes, I’ve had some crazy OCD thoughts. Thankfully Luvox takes care of them these days.
