The internet

It’s hard to imagine life before the internet. The vast majority of my life revolves around it . The mere thought of ever being without for more than a few days panics me . I imagine going without food if I lose the internet because I wouldn’t be able to do an online shop. Be it food or other shopping if I can do it online I will.

I have one foot on the internet side, and the other foot in “The old school days” due to helping care for my 80 year old mom.
Growing up we didn’t have a garbage disposal, dish washer, microwave, answering machine, caller id, security camera, computer or cell phones.

If we wanted to look up something, we looked in a book, either in the bookshelf, or if necessary, at the library.

If we wanted to talk to someone, we went to their house and knocked on the door. If they lived out of town, we called the only number they had- the home phone, which was like ours, a rotary phone stuck to the wall. If they didn’t answer the phone, they weren’t home, and we just called back later.

If you wrote a letter to someone (out of town), you had to find a pencil and paper, then an envelope and a stamp. To find out how to spell a word, you got out that huge dictionary in your bookcase, when finished, you stuck it out in your mailbox if you couldn’t ride your bike, or walk to the post office.
Then came the wait. And the wait…and more wait.
Sometimes a week if you were lucky, most times two weeks or more, and you never quite knew just when it would arrive.

me too. I am on my desk around 6 hours a day a minimum, unless I go out.
I do not even watch TV at all.

My only break from the computer is sleep/going out/ or smoking so need to change this too this summer

@firemonkey do you have any help from the government at all? or the municipality?
