My older brother kicked the habit last year, when it made him very sick and of course he couldn’t afford it anymore. He’d been smoking since he was fifteen and was forty then. Think of the money you’ll save, not to mention the health benefits. The pleasure of smoking is short-lived.
EDIT: Warning, you will feel sick after quitting, but just try and power through it, maybe with the help of coffee you can get instead of cigs.
I used to smoke when I was a kid, but I only did it to make a social center piece, and I rarely bought my own cigarettes…because I didn’t have to. I always knew that I’d eventually quit because I’m not addictable to anything, and I did quit.
Anything I cannot control that can control me is something I don’t settle well with especially if it is my own subjective self of all things.
@Mountainman Maybe ask your doctor to run some tests to look at your heart and lung function? Also, they should be able to help you with stopping smoking (e.g., nicotine patch).
Back in the 70’s and early 80’s, when I smoked, I rarely bought my cigarettes. I always stole them. They were easy to steal back then. Times sure have changed.
I agree that it would be a good idea to see a doc about it.
I’ve tried to quit cigs in the past and wasn’t able to do it, have you ever tried vaping Mountainman? A lot of people find it easier to quit cigs by vaping instead, it still gives you nicotine but is supposed to be a lot healthier than breathing smoke. But yeh, if you’re able to quit cigs/nicotine altogether that would be even better.
