A like can appear to have two very different meanings.
When someone says they are struggling with things and having a rough time, do you like that comment? Does this mean you are supporting their post, or does it mean that you like their suffering? It seems it’s all about interpretation.
So what do you generally do when someone posts about having a rough day, or sick relatives, or some similar unfortunate circumstance? Do you like or not?
I do this to some extent in my own threads to acknowledge that I have read their response but not so much in other peoples thread. I tend to only like comments that I actually like in others threads. Unless they are responding to me, which I, again, like to acknowledge.
Outside of the bad news thread, which I’m still unsure of sometimes.
I generally will like even bad news just to show the op that yes, I have read the post and am supporting them, especially if im too strapped for time to actually comment.
