The county screwed up

I applied for SNAP benefits in November. IDK about other states but here in California the law says that they have to tell you within a month whether you’ve been approved or not. I looked it up and I read it in several places. Well, it’s been about 5 1/2 weeks and I called them three times to check the status of my application and they always said call in the next week.

I learned on Tuesday that a worker had not even been assigned to my case yet and I should have already had an interview. They finally called today while I was at work and I told them to call me back after work. So today I learned they finally assigned a worker to my case and I had my interview. Now I still have to wait for a decision.

Hang in there matey. I’ve found governments are getting scarce with giving people things and I guess it’s a sign of the times. Stick up for what your entitled too but I’d imagine there’s a big que to get anything from anyone over there.

At least you’ve a foot in the door so I’d imagine you have an appeal if it goes bad. Horrible stuff I know but wait and see. I’m so out of the loop on your system!

They increased my SSDI for cost of living, but decreased my SNAP cause of increased income.

my SNAP case worker was rude on my interview, but I got my decision and amount the same day of the interview, but this was in 2020.

also get interviewed everytime renewal happens.

You should qualify for some if you meet the income requirements. I don’t think they discriminate on anything else. If you’ve already applied you may get some back pay.
