I am going to stop aripiprazole. I am not willing to take 3 antipsychotic pills anymore due to health risks.
I reduced my olanzapine from 40 mg (like my Dr wanted me to take) back down to 30 mg previous dose because of the chest pain I had. I will tell my dr on Monday. Thanks for the help here everyone. I have learned a lot.
It’s a good idea to write down notes on everything you want to say and bring that with you do you don’t forget anything.
Also, make sure to remain calm and respectful so your thoughts and opinions are taken more seriously
In the end, please listen to your pdoc. Ask questions and listen to the reasons given for your pdocs decision. If you don’t trust him/her, see if you can get a new one that you do trust
@LilyoftheValley Thank you so much. You have given me lots of good tips and ideas to remember for my next appointment which is next week. I will try my best to do as you’ve said. I need to be assertive. I have trouble conversing verbally due to SZ cognitive issues too. I will write a note as you’ve said. I appreciate your help!
@FreeLunch Thanks so much for your kindness! It is good news, I agree! So far, so good! I’m going slowly like my dr had said we should do so. So it should work out well.
@keylow I have not been able to contact my dr because she has not been in her office. I can tomorrow though or I can wait until my appointment on Wednesday. I don’t want to have a heart test. Isn’t it ok now? Since I have no more symptoms and have lowered the doses back down.
@CrazyPlantLady Oh I’m just asking because my pdoc wants to me to do an ECG before prescribing a second small dose AP …
I mean if you been on them long time I’m sure you are fine, especially now that you are on lower doses. I’m not a doctor but I guess that would make sense
I’m waiting for a callback to get the scan done before I can book appointment again with doctor. He wants to bring in small dose of Vraylar…I’m hoping that will help most negative symptoms
I hope that vraylar helps you a lot! Thanks for the advice too. I appreciate your help. I will contact my dr promptly regarding a heart test. I guess it is important. I shouldn’t ignore this.
@CrazyPlantLady Yes , just to make sure
Specifically an ECG test with rested heart. It’s second time I’m doing it. It literally takes them like 2 minutes to do! They just plug these little thingies all over your chest and scan for less than 60 seconds
He needs to see your heart’s QT Interval and make sure it’s not too prolonged. Apparently they should do this step before combining 2+ AP
