I’m going to listen to my doctor and stop taking Olanzapine.
I’ve been taking 10 mg a night for the past 9 nights. Once I hit 2 weeks at 10 mg, I will drop down to 5 mg for 2 weeks, then down to 2.5 mg for 2 weeks, then stop it.
But this time around, different from my last time, i’m going to stay on my AD Escitalopram for my anxiety. My doctor says shes fine with me staying on Escitalopram.
Before my doctor came to Canada, she worked in the psychiatry and its medicines field, in the UK. She told me shes seen a lot of people on Olanzapine develop heart issues. And it raises cholesterol levels.
It’s got me worried. I need to lose weight. Fast. I’m 5’6 and 229 lb. Dangerous BMI.
Im confident i’ll be okay this time cause im staying on my anxiety med Escitalopram.
I just dropped down to 5mg on the olanzapine, too. Next week I’ll be off of it. My Zyprexa “munchies” have definitely decreased and I’m no longer sleeping 13 hours a day. I’m still on Cobenfy and haven’t noticed any increase in symptoms since dropping the Zyprexa…i was on 20 mg just a month ago. I hope coming off it works well for you, too!
If I remember correctly my doctor told me all AP’s are bad for your heart. I dont think im switching to anything else. I’ll still be on my anxiety med Escitalopram.
I hear you. Have you considered adopting some kind of supplement regiment and focusing on diet and exercise? I’m going through a scare with my heart. I started clonidine a few years ago for anxiety and my doctor reduces it about a month ago. I got severe rebound hypertension while trying to sleep. I would wake up to my heart pounding. I’m also on rexulti and a small dose of seraquel which isn’t helping. I’ve been doing a lot of research on supplements for the heart and am going to put together a stack. Also focusing on diet and exercise.
Ooh, I’m jealous! I wish i had a treadmill! I do a lot of walking in the other seasons, but when it’s -20 F here there’s no way I’m going for a stroll!
Hey, I take lybalvi which is an expensive med containing zyprexa and an appetite suppressant. I am on 10 mg. After 30+ years of suffering I feel I’m ready to go off my ap. But I’m still taking it because the government benefits of being disabled are good and I don’t believe I’m able to work.
